Can we talk politics here?

Separation of Church and State:

As I get older, I pray to find wisdom and understanding from the Bible [the word of God] in all matters.

This most recent election season has me considering my own political views and understandings and whether or not they are in line with what Jesus taught. For the longest, I voted as a Democrat because I thought their views and values were in line with my own. I had convinced myself that being a Democrat meant I was for the peoples "freedoms" I read about in the Bible. But as I looked deeper and studied longer, I found that the democratic way was initially and continues to be supportive of the republic, the common people and a secular society. Wherein you'll find that the republican ways, in its beginnings, were made of supporters of the monarchy, aristocratic privilege and the Church. What a conundrum having to choose between those two [keeping in mind that you can vote "Independent" nowadays].

Here's a bible verse that tells us to: "Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's, and unto God the things which be God's."
[see Luke 20:20-26 http://bit.ly/bJtwDL ]

- My understanding of this verse is to abide by the governing laws of man as well as the governing laws of our Heavenly Father God.

Yet this bible verse that tells us: [And] be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
[see Romans 12:1-21 http://bit.ly/9lCTyh ]

- Which tells me, if I'm understanding this correctly, that we must "discern" and use common sense when it comes to abiding by the governing laws of man as well as the governing laws of our Heavenly Father God.

-- Yes, I referenced just "two" of quite a few bible verses that make us think about the co-mingling of Church and State. But you can read, study and discuss with others, and you still have to come to your own conclusions.

We know in our hearts and minds the difference between right and wrong in every matter. So when it comes down to it, you have to choose. You have to stand by your choices here on this earth and in heaven above [come judgment day].

The Bible itself is full of information that is critical to each and every one of us; be you Jew or Gentile. The thing that matters most is that you read and study the Bible for yourself. Pray for discernment with the help of the Holy Spirit. And hold your ground even when opposing forces tell you otherwise.

I truly believe that the LOVE Jesus Christ preached, while He was on this earth, is a love that surpasses all else; based on you knowing in your heart and mind that you are following the governing laws of our Heavenly Father God.

What are your thoughts?
